FAQ

Why is my PDF showing no text?

Scanned PDFs are images — there's no embedded text to extract. You'd need OCR software like Adobe Acrobat or Google Drive to handle those.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Text extraction uses PDF.js which runs entirely in your browser.

Is this a real Word file?

Yes — a proper .docx, built as Office Open XML. Detected headings use Word's Heading 1 and Heading 2 styles so they show up in the navigation pane and in a table of contents; bullet and numbered lists use Word's own numbering, so they renumber when you edit them; bold and italic runs are preserved; page breaks are real page breaks; and the page size and orientation match the source PDF. Tables and images are not carried over — this converts text, not layout.

How are headings detected?

The body text size is whichever size covers the most characters on the page. Anything noticeably larger is a heading; the largest becomes Heading 1 and the rest Heading 2. This works well for reports and articles, and less well for design-led PDFs where type size is decorative rather than structural.
